Lancer Super Short Series – Major FAIL

30 01 2009

**UPDATE 3/2/09 – Issue below has now been corrected, so….enjoy!**

So I’m sitting at home with the wife, sweltering in the Melbourne heat wave, and we see this ad on TV – the Lancer ads with the short movies.

This one was the “help” one with the little green critter.

We see the URL pop up at the end – www.lancersupershortseries.com.au.

This is their first FAIL – who’s going to remember that long a URL?? Try www.lancer.com.au and have a nice big call to action front and centre directing people to the site – or worst case try www.lancer.com.au/shorts.

Next massive FAIL on this one is when you get to that URL, it’s actually Tropfest website via NineMSN…so, um I was expecting a Lancer website not a NineMSN one.

Here is the biggest FAIL of them all. When you click on the “Help” movie to watch the ending, you go to a DEAD PAGE!

(Dead page = http://network.ninemsn.com.au/9msnshared/error_page/404.asp?requestedURL=http://tropfest.ninemsn.com.au/supershortseries/undefined)

Congrats to all involved in this project, you sure wasted a big chunk of Mitsubishi’s marketing budget.

Durex – Funny new advert

Very funny ad from Durex.

(warning: very funny content, but sexually explicit so be warned!)

YouTube Video

Check out the out takes as well:

StumbleUpon Site of the Day : Find Sounds

7 01 2009

Find Sounds

Search for sound bites of, well, just about anything you like.  For example, a Hawk or a Crying Baby.

findsounds

I like this site as it is simple, useful and very easy to use.  It does exactly what it says it does and doesn’t try to do anything else.

Also, you are given multiple sound bites for each search you do, so you aren’t just given one option to use, but a varierty.

Where did ING Direct go?

6 01 2009

So, tried to get into my online banking @ ING Direct tonight, and….um….it’s dropped off the face of the earth (well, web).

Embarrasment.com

I might have to call them and see if a) Sputnik can provide services, and b) find out (if they’ll tell me) how this happened!

UPDATE:

Back from the dead, site is back online so I can now see how much money I don’t have.

iPhone & Telstra Repair Service Centre

5 01 2009

Recently I had an episode where my iPhone, just 2 months old, decided to stop working.  The screen was blank but the sound was working just fine.

I sent it in to the Telstra Repair Service Centre in NSW.

The process to begin with was quite laborious, with a three page form having to be filled out.

Once that was done (took a whole day due to having to track down bits of information that seemed to be spread all over Telstra….single customer focused CRM needed there maybe??).

I was rather sceptical about the reply speed as I posted the item off.

However, and the point of this blog posting really, is even though they received the phone on the 30th December 2008, I have it here now in my hand on the 6th January 2009.

Personally, I wasn’t expecting it for at least another 7-10 days.

Muchos Gracious to the lads and laddetes at the Telstra Repair Centre in NSW…

Weird Web

5 01 2009

Fun, funny, weird and utterly pointless (so far) but my StumbleUpon site of the day today.

Stumble Upon #2

2 01 2009

Okay, two posts today on StumbleUpon site of the day.

“Ground Zero” – probably more relevant in the 1960’s than today, but check out what would happen if someone were to drop a bomb, or nuke, or asteroid on your home town.

StumbleUpon – Site of the Day

2 01 2009

So I just blogged about the FWA Site of the Day (read it here) and now I thought I’d blog about the best StumbleUpon site I’ve come across today.

(I’ll try to do this weekly).

Saizen Media (http://www.saizenmedia.com)

I love the detail in the graphics and animation of this site.   The music / sound effects all add to the experience.

Something above and beyond I think for an interactive agency – clearly a benchmark in the world on a self-promoting website highlighting capability for a leading creative digital agency.  No wonder some of the biggest names in Computer Gaming have turned to these guys for extending their work to the online channel.

What I don’t love is that in the navigation, you should have text prompts on nav items to ID what is in them, instead of having to review each and everyone of them to find what it is you are looking for, additionally have the ability to jump from one section to another without having to close the content you’re currently viewing.  Accidently clicking on a button, you have to wait for the animation to complete the cycle before re-pressing the right button…

What’s your StumbleUpon Site of the Day?

Awesome Interactive Video

2 01 2009

Totally awesome website with interactive video.

Play Noughts and Crosses with this guy (Daniel), or Pong! and then buy the t-shirt!

Best website I’ve seen in 2009 (insert audience-taped laugh track here)

Haven’t seen all variations yet, so refresh the page yourself to view others.
